A clock time is not a complete booking
“Friday at eight” can mean different moments to people in different places. State the full date, time and reference city, then ask the other person to repeat their local date and time. This guide concerns present booking arrangements, not the conversion of historical birth times. Past time-zone research requires records for the relevant year.
Choose an explicit reference
The Observatory defines Hong Kong standard time as UTC plus eight hours. If Hong Kong is the booking reference, say so. Also record the other person’s city and local date for this particular event; a country name alone may be ambiguous. A useful template is: “Date __, Hong Kong time __; your city __, local date __, local time __. Please confirm these identify the same appointment.” It is a template, not a completed conversion.
Inspect the actual invitation
Check the event’s time-zone field, start and end dates and your device’s current zone. When travelling, an app may display the same event in a different local time. Inspect its details before assuming it has been rescheduled. If you receive only an image, ask for a written date, time and reference city. Refer to the latest confirmed invitation rather than selecting among old screenshots.
Confirm the practical arrangements
Record duration, platform, how to obtain the link and how to contact the provider if the connection fails. Confirm fees, cancellation and rescheduling terms for the specific booking in writing; this article does not create a FairiesLotus policy. Check your own audio, power and quiet space. Ask in advance about captions, an accompanying person or other needs, and wait for confirmation.
Keep one current version
When changing a booking, identify the cancelled slot and the new full date and time. Both parties should confirm the updated invitation. Keep relevant communications and transaction records, consistent with Customs’ consumer reminders. Before the event, check the moment, link and preparation once more. Resolve a missing field with a specific question.
